Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade with the Head of the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) and the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD)

On April 29, 2024, as part of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade/Plenipotentiary Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) from the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, with the Head of the International Islamic Trade Corporation financing (ITFC) and the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) by Hani Salem Sonbol.

Zavkizoda Z. A. presenting numerous investment opportunities and development of the country’s private sector, asked the Head of the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation and the Islamic Private Sector Development Corporation to increase funding for priority sectors of the national economy, including strengthening the country’s export potential, creating textile enterprises and producing halal products , logistics centers, trade and tourism development, traditional Islamic banking and private sector capacity building.

In turn, the Head of the corporation, Mr. Hani Salem Sonbol, expressed his readiness to implement projects in these areas, as well as to further strengthen cooperation.

It should be noted that to date, the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation has implemented investment projects worth $182 million in the Republic of Tajikistan and currently 3 projects worth $18 million are being implemented.

At the same time, it was proposed to visit the Republic of Tajikistan at a convenient time, which was received positively.
