The 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan was held in Baku, the Republic of Azerbaijan

On July 7, 2023, in the city of Baku of the Republic of Azerbaijan, under the co-chairmanship of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan was held.

Also, the heads of relevant ministries and departments of both countries took part in the work of the Commission.

During the meeting, the Side discussed the state and prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, finance, investment and the private sector, banking, transport, agriculture, energy, tourism, education, culture, healthcare, and sports.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that thanks to the wise and far-sighted policy of the leaders of the two countries - the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, respected Ilham Aliyev, relations between the two countries are continuously developing and have entered a new level of partnership.

At the meeting of the commission, in order to fulfill the instructions and orders of the Presidents of the two countries, the parties agreed to implement specific projects in the field of strengthening trade and economic cooperation, the creation of joint industrial enterprises, including in the territory of free economic zones of the Republic of Tajikistan, the supply of crude oil from Azerbaijan for the needs of an oil refinery FEZ "Dangara", raising capital for the reconstruction of OJSC "Tajik Aluminum Company", export of aluminum, cryolite and aluminum fluoride from Tajikistan to Azerbaijan, import of alumina from Azerbaijan to Tajikistan, processing of agricultural products, provision of discounts for transportation by rail, development of tourism, exploration deposits of Tajikistan and increase in bilateral trade.

As a result of the sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan on trade and economic cooperation, a Protocol was signed.

It should be noted that as a sign of respect and memory, the official delegation of Tajikistan laid a wreath at the graves of the Founder of modern Azerbaijan and the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijani martyrs.
