The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan took part in the official opening ceremony of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group

On April 28, 2024, the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan under the leadership of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade / Plenipotentiary Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) from the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amina took part in the official opening ceremony of the annual meetings of the IDB on the topic “Valuing your past in order to build the future, authenticity, solidarity and prosperity" in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Annual meetings of the IDB will be held this year as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the bank with the participation of representatives of international financial organizations and representatives of the bank's 57 member countries.

Speaking at the official opening of the events, IDB Group President Dr. Mohammed Suleiman Al Jasser noted that the world needs $15 trillion to close the financing gap for sustainable infrastructure projects by 2040.

He also emphasized that since its inception, the bank has invested more than $182 billion in support of 12,000 development projects in member countries and further expresses its readiness to support priority projects of member countries.

At the same time, it was noted that in 2023, the IDB Group allocated a total of $4.3 billion for the development of the socio-economic spheres of member countries, with an increase of 42 percent at the expense of the bank itself, $6.9 billion from the International Islamic Corporation trade finance (ITFC), $627 million Islamic Corporation for Private Sector Development (ICD) and Islamic Insurance Corporation for Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC) worth $13.3 billion provided insurance and credit guarantees in finance, agriculture and energy.

Zavqizoda Z. A. at the round table of bank managers thanked the management of the IDB for the creation of a new mechanism for preferential anti-crisis financing (crisis window) and proposed that its funds be directed to the goals and priorities of the development of member countries, including the green economy, ensuring food security , irrigation infrastructure and climate change mitigation.

The official composition of the Republic of Tajikistan includes the Minister of Economic Development and Trade / Plenipotentiary Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) from the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan Majidi Yusuf Khairullo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Karimi Akram Mohammadrasul and Chairman of the Board of State Unitary Enterprise "Sansatsodirotbank" Bobozoda Khukumshoh Jurakhon.
