The Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan discussed with the German-Central Asian Parliamentary Group of the German Bundestag the priority areas of trade and economic cooperation between the countries

On May 4, 2024, Mr. Nuriddinzoda Ahliddin Nuriddin, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, met with the German-Central Asian Parliamentary Group of the German Bundestag, chaired by Mr. Manfred Grund, deputy of the United Faction of the sister Parties of the Christian Democratic Union and the Christian Social Union, within which priority areas of trade and economic cooperation between the countries were discussed.

 

The delegation of the German-Central Asian Parliamentary Group of the German Bundestag also included Dr. Daniella De Ridder, a member of the Social Democratic Party, Ms. Tabea Ressner, a member of the Union 90/Greens, Ms. Aniko Glogowski-Maerten, a member of the Free Democratic Party of Germany and Ms. Marina Bernhard, the secretariat of the Parliamentary Group.

Nuriddinzoda A.N. noted that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, under the wise and far–sighted policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon, attaches great importance to the development of trade and economic cooperation with the Federal Republic of Germany.

In this regard, it was noted with satisfaction that trade and economic cooperation between the countries is developing from year to year. Thus, in 2023, the mutual trade turnover between the countries increased by 60 percent.

During the meeting, which was held in a friendly atmosphere, the parties discussed priority areas of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, including attracting grant funding for the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of the "green" Economy in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023-2037 and projects in the field of digital economy, the creation of new production facilities for the production of electronic equipment in Tajikistan, as well as the implementation of projects to prevent the negative consequences of natural disasters.

In addition, the parties discussed issues of education and healthcare, as well as the implementation of projects of the German Development Bank (KfW) and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
