Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Deputy First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran
On April 15, 2025, in the city of Dushanbe, a meeting took place between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, and the Deputy First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ali Najafi Khoshroodi.
Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that the meetings between the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, esteemed Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, esteemed Masoud Pizishkian, during the state visit that took place from January 15 to 17, 2025, served as a catalyst for the comprehensive development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
It was emphasized that the effective implementation of the Program for Long-Term Economic and Trade Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for 2022-2030 has created favorable conditions for expanding mutual trade.
Zavqizoda Z. A. pointed out that as a result of the implementation of directives and instructions from the leaders of both countries and mutually beneficial cooperation, the bilateral foreign trade turnover in 2024 amounted to $378 million, which is an increase by 1.5 times compared to 2023. In the first quarter of 2025, the bilateral foreign trade turnover also reached $111 million, increasing by 42.9% compared to the same period in 2024.
In addition, it was noted that Tajikistan possesses vast opportunities for creating joint industrial enterprises in the production of construction materials, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, textiles, agricultural product processing, and more. The utilization of relatively inexpensive labor and green energy contributes to ensuring the competitiveness of environmentally friendly goods and products.
Ali Najafi Khoshroodi, paying special attention to the development of bilateral cooperation, expressed his readiness to utilize transit corridors, organize exhibitions and participate in them, attract foreign direct investments, and develop tourism.
The meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding, with both sides expressing their readiness to fully utilize existing opportunities and implement joint industrial, commercial, and investment projects.
