Meeting with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov
On the sideline of the Council of CIS Heads of State in Ashgabat, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
A wide range of issues relating to bilateral cooperation were the subjects of discussion.
At the beginning of the meeting President Emomali Rahmon congratulated President Berdimuhamedov on Turkmenistan's successful CIS Presidency and noted the significant role of the intergovernmental commission which aims to strengthen trade and economic relations and to raise bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level.
During the meeting, the sides discussed further development of bilateral cooperation in light and mining industry, agriculture, investment, optimization on combination of transport routes, water and energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The foreign ministries of both countries were instructed to hold political consultations regarding political and security issues.
The sides noted the need to take concrete measures to increase the trade turnover between the two countries.
While discussing regional security issues, the counterparts had a fruitful conversation regarding the political situation in Afghanistan, the fight against terrorism, extremism, and drug trafficking and other forms of transnational organized crime.
At the end of the meeting, the officials called on each other to visit their country with a view to deepening multifaceted cooperation with official visits.
