Meeting with CEO of Glencore International AG Ivan Glasenberg
Within the framework of his official visit to Switzerland, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President Emomali Rahmon met with the CEO of Glencore International AG Ivan Glasenberg to discuss Tajik - Glencore International AG cooperation.
President Rahmon expressed his satisfaction over the effective partnership between the Tajik Aluminium Company (TALCO) and Glencore International AG that drive bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries forward.
Over the past 12 years, TALCO and Glencore International AG carried out trade operations worth more than $ 4.7 billion. Over the next five years, following the reached agreements these two companies are expected to work with $1.5 billion under business cooperation.
Taking into account the existing capabilities of Tajikistan and the potential of Glencore, establishing cooperation in other areas of the national economy will be beneficial for both sides.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on seeking new ways to expand trade and economic cooperation and investment projects, primarily in the implementation of final processing of gold, silver and zinc by Glencore International AG.
Utilizing the opportunities of cooperation in the energy sector and other productive sectors of the national economy, implementation of the TALCO potential modernization program and the company's contribution to the implementation of the fourth strategic goal - rapid industrialization of Tajikistan is considered of vital importance.
