The fourth session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Tajikistan and Korea
On October 19, 2021, in Dushanbe, in preparation for the 4th session of the intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific and technical cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea, a meeting was held between the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade -Abdurakhmon Safarali and the co-chairman of the commission of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea for Economic Affairs Lee Song Ho.
The sides discussed in a constructive manner a number of issues of cooperation between the two countries in trade, economic, investment, industrial, energy, educational, scientific and technical spheres, agriculture, technology and other spheres.
Both sides agreed to take the necessary measures to develop trade and economic ties and industrial partnership between Tajikistan and Korea in order to develop new approaches.
During the meeting, the sides discussed a number of strategic areas of cooperation related to the development of the digital economy and the "green economy", e-commerce, modeling and forecasting, investments, energy, the creation of regional logistics centers for the concentration of production and the creation of a logistics chain for domestic transportation. They discussed further exports, support for the activities of 5 free economic zones (FEZ) of Tajikistan and the infrastructure necessary for them, and stated that the strengthening and development of these territories will give a significant impetus to the development of our relations.
At the same time, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade proposed in this protocol to introduce issues of creating technology parks and joint industrial enterprises for the production of textile goods in free economic zones (FEZ) of Tajikistan, and the issue of holding the next Forum of Cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Central Asia in December 2021 was also discussed.
In the field of industrial partnership, the Korean side was invited to take an active part in the creation of joint ventures based on industrial enterprises operating in Tajikistan and free economic zones.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in the fields of education and science, healthcare and agriculture. The parties agreed to implement projects aimed at exchanging experience in these areas, as well as attracting assistance and investment.
Given the rich natural and recreational potential of Tajikistan, issues related to attracting tourists from Korea were discussed.
The talks were held in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding.
