Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin with the Managing Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Central Asia

On October 25, 2021, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin met with Managing Director of the EBRD for Central Asia Zhuzhanna Hargitai, Head of the EBRD Office in Tajikistan Rika Ishii, Advisor to Directors for Central Asia and the Russian Federation, Western Europe and the Caucasus Evgeny Ofrichter and the country's leading banker Jamshed Rahmonberdiev.

During the meeting Zavqizoda Z.A. proposed issues related to the implementation of existing public investment projects supported by the EBRD, priority areas of investment, including investments in the construction of the “Rogun” HPP, the creation of joint enterprises in the country's free economic zones to establish the processing of domestic raw materials to competitive products with high added value, the construction of logistics centers, the effective implementation of the Mid-term Development Program for the digital economy for 2021-2025, providing technical assistance for the development of action plan for green economy and they were welcomed.

In order to strengthen its activities in Tajikistan, the EBRD expressed its commitment to implementing green economy projects, improving the management of state-owned enterprises in accordance with international standards, supporting the private sector in generating electricity from renewable sources, creating jobs and strengthening the potential of private enterprises, as well as supporting the sectors and areas of investment proposed during the meeting, and providing the necessary technical assistance.
