Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade with the Coordinator of the UN Office in Tajikistan

On April 26, 2023, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, met with the Coordinator of the UN Office in Tajikistan, Ms. Parvathy Ramaswami, during which the further expansion and development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the parties was discussed.

First of all, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin congratulated Mrs. Parvati Ramaswami on her appointment to a new responsible position and wished her professional success.

It was noted that within the framework of the far-sighted and wise policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, cooperation with development partners, especially with the UN, is considered important for ensuring the development of the national economy and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

In this regard, gratitude was expressed to the UN Office in Tajikistan for mutually beneficial cooperation and contribution to the sustainable economic development of the country.

During the meeting, issues of expanding cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the UN, attracting grant funds related to preventing the impact of external factors, new priority projects based on the country's development goals and prospects for medium-term cooperation were discussed.

In addition, the parties expressed their readiness to hold a high-level round table on the presentation of the draft Voluntary National Review of the Republic of Tajikistan.

It was also noted that Tajikistan is one of the leading countries in climate change adaptation initiatives, in the future it is important to support projects in this area and the "green" economy.

At the end of the meeting, the parties noted that they are ready to contribute to the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation and the implementation of the issues noted.
