Within the framework of the fourth meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Qatar on economic, trade, scientific and technical cooperation, the issue of expanding bilateral cooperation was discussed

On September 28, 2023, the fourth meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Qatar on Economic, Trade and Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in Doha, Qatar, under the co-chairmanship of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Minister of Trade and Industry of the State of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Soni.

During the meeting, the state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, finance, industry, transport, energy, agriculture, green and digital economy, taxation, standardization, investment, private sector, labor migration, culture, tourism and other issues of common interest were discussed.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that thanks to the wise and far–sighted policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency the Esteemed Emomali Rahmon and the Emir of the State of Qatar, His Excellency the Esteemed Sheikh Tamim ibn Hamad Al Soni, bilateral relations between the two countries have reached a high level.

During the meeting, the parties noted that the state visit of the Emir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim ibn Hamad Al Soni to the Republic of Tajikistan on June 8, 2023 and bilateral meetings with the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, gave a high impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation.

In response to the request of the Tajik side, the Qatari side expressed its readiness to study and finance a number of priority projects of Tajikistan, in particular, financing the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power station, the construction of an international passenger and cargo airport in the Dangara district, modernization of the Tajik Aluminum Company JSC (TALCO), continuation of the construction of the Diyari Dushanbe residential complex, construction of high-rise buildings in the city of Dushanbe and the tourist infrastructure, increasing the competitiveness of Somon Air, the creation of textile manufacturing enterprises, decorative stone and food, a modern logistics center, the opening of direct passenger flights between Dushanbe and Doha, as well as the admission of more than 4 thousand citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan to work in Qatar.

During the meeting of the Commission, the drafts of the "Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the State of Qatar on the establishment of a Joint Economic and Investment Fund of Tajikistan and Qatar" and "Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Administration of Free Zones "State of Qatar" were submitted for domestic procedures.

Following the results of the fourth meeting of the joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Qatar on economic, trade and scientific and technical cooperation, a Protocol was signed.
