Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Mr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thoni

On September 28, 2023, within the framework of the fourth meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Qatar on Economic, Trade, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, a meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Mr. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thoni.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that thanks to the wise and far-sighted policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, and the Emir of the State of Qatar, respected Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thoni, bilateral relations between the two countries have reached a high level.

During the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to expand trade and economic cooperation and agreed to make more efforts to implement specific investment projects.

In turn, Zavqizoda Z. A. asked the Prime Minister of Qatar, as Chairman of the Executive Directors of the Qatar Investment Board, to assist in the implementation of the country’s priority projects, especially financing the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power station, the project for the construction of an international passenger airport and cargo in the Dangara region, the modernization of OJSC “Tajik aluminum company” (TALCO), the continuation of the construction of the residential complex "Diyori Dushanbe", the construction of high-rise buildings in the city of Dushanbe and tourism infrastructure, the opening of direct passenger routes between Dushanbe and Doha, as well as the reception of 4 thousand citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan for labor migration, this request in its the turn was positively received by the Qatari side.
