The Minister of Economic Development and Trade discussed with the Regional Director of the Islamic Development Bank in Central Asia priority areas of bilateral cooperation
On January 30, 2024, a meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade / Plenipotentiary Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) from the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, and the Regional Director of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in Central Asia, Ibrohim Shukri.
The parties summed up the results of the meeting of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the IDB Group, respected Muhammad Suleiman Al-Jaser on November 11, 2023 and discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation, including investments in the field of digital and green economy, energy, transport, agriculture, irrigation, healthcare and education.
Ibrohim Shukri said that following the meeting of the presidents, the IDB allocated $250 million for the construction project of the Roghun hydroelectric power station and is doing everything possible to increase this amount.
The IDB also provides financing for the implementation of the projects “Promoting the implementation of the National Education Development Strategy” in the amount of $86 million, “Construction and reconstruction of the Gulistan-Farkhor-Pyanj-Dusti highway” in the amount of $41 million.
It should be noted that to date, the IDB Group has allocated investment projects worth $633 million in various sectors of the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Currently, 5 projects of the IDB Group are being implemented for a total amount of $231 million, another 4 projects are planned for a total of $391 million.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
