The Minister of Economic Development and Trade took part and delivered a speech at the final part of the plenary session of the Forum on Sustainable Development Goals in Geneva, Switzerland

On 14 March 2024, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, participated and delivered a speech at the final part of the High-Level Forum on the Sustainable Development Goals, organized under the coordination of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in the city of Geneva, Switzerland, with the participation of 56 member countries and international organizations.

Zavqizoda Z. A. presenting the achievements of the Republic of Tajikistan in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, noted that the General Assembly of the United Nations unanimously adopted the fifth initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, to declare 2025 “International Year of Glacier Protection” and March 21 “ World Glacier Day.”

In this regard, it was emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan is steadily implementing the Green Economy Development Strategy for 2023-2037; currently, 98 percent of the country’s electricity is “green energy”.

The head of the country's official delegation noted that, according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the funding gap to fully implement the SDGs is about $4 trillion per year, and called on development partners and donor countries to allocate more funds to developing countries and low-income countries.
