The Minister of Economic Development and Trade met with the Head of the Eurasian Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development

On April 15, 2024, a meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Head of the Eurasian Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development William Tompson.

The Minister of Economic Development and Trade noted to his interlocutor the attention of the Government of the country to the wise policy of the Founder of peace and national unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, to economic reforms in the direction of adapting the country’s investment environment to the requirements of international standards, and noted the significant achievements of the economic development of the country, including ensuring economic growth rates of 8.3 percent in 2023 and 7.5 percent over the past seven years, maintaining the inflation rate at 3.8 percent, construction and commissioning of two units of the Roghun hydroelectric power station .

At the same time, it was noted that the share of the private sector in GDP is more than 70 percent, the revenue side of the state budget is 85 percent, and almost 90 percent of employment is provided by the private sector, which indicates a more favorable climate for doing business and the effectiveness of economic reforms .

Zavqizoda Z. A. appealed to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development with a request to provide technical assistance for a systematic assessment of the business and investment climate in Tajikistan, determining the country’s position in the investment climate ranking and assessing the share of the middle class of the population in the country.
