Ministerial Meeting of the United Nations Special Programme for the Economy of Central Asia (SPECA)
On April 23, 2024, in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand, within the framework of the 80th session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission, a ministerial meeting of the United Nations special program for the Economy of Central Asia was held, headed by Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Nuriddinzoda Ahliddin Nuriddin.
SPECA ministerial meetings are held annually under the leadership of the Chair country.
It should be noted that by agreement of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the esteemed Emomali Rahmon, the Republic of Tajikistan assumed the chairmanship of SPECA in 2024.
The meeting discussed the implementation of the decisions of the SPECA declaration (November 24, 2023, Baku), issues of preparation for the SPECA high-level events in Dushanbe, the creation of the SPECA trust fund, the green economy, simplification of trade procedures and the elimination of non-tariff barriers to trade, following which a joint statement of the SPECA ministers was adopted.
