An informal working meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade and the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China

On May 9, 2024, in the city of Urumqi, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China (XUAR), after participating in the 13th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and China, an informal working meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the XUAR Sun Hongmei.

During the meeting, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin presented the rich opportunities of the Republic of Tajikistan in the fields of trade, economics, industry, energy and agriculture.

The parties agreed to take the necessary measures to fulfill the instructions of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, and the protocol of the meeting of the Subcommittee of the Intergovernmental Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China in priority areas, in particular on the creation of joint industrial enterprises, solar power plants, mineral processing, e-commerce, export of domestic goods to the XUAR.

It was noted that in 2023, the volume of foreign trade of the Republic of Tajikistan with the XUAR amounted to $1.2 billion, which is 24% more than in 2022.

Also, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade invited the Deputy Prime Minister of the XUAR, Ms. Sun Hongmei, to take part in the event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Kulma-Karasu customs border crossing, which will take place at the end of May 2024 in the Murghab district and the city of Dushanbe, which was gratefully received accepted.
