Meeting with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian

On 30 July, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian

 

Initially, the Head of our State, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, congratulated Honorable  Masoud Pezeshkian on the occasion of the beginning of his activities as President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and wished him success.

 The Leader of the Nation also invited Masoud Pezeshkian to pay an official visit to Tajikistan at his convenience.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, expressed confidence that our countries will continue to develop mutually beneficial cooperation on the basis of mutual understanding, respect and trust.

During the conversation, both parties expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral cooperation, including in political, economic, trade, energy, industrial, transport, agricultural, health, science, education and culture sectors, as well as noted that this fruitful process should continue in future.

The fivefold increase in trade turnover in recent years was called a reflection of the great potential that exists in trade and economic cooperation between the two fraternal countries.

In this context, it was considered necessary to ensure the active work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and the effective use of the Joint Investment Committee and the Joint Council of Entrepreneurs of the two countries.

Both parties expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the water, energy, oil and gas sectors, as well as in the fields of nanotechnology and attracting investments in these areas.

Our side expressed interest in the effective use of the capabilities of the ports of Bandar Abbas and Chabahar for the transportation of goods and products of Tajikistan.

The parties called the abolition of the visa regime for mutual travel between the two countries for up to 30 days an important event and expressed confidence that this step will actively contribute to the development of tourism and, in general, ties between the peoples of the two countries.

Issues of strengthening cooperation in the joint fight against modern challenges and threats, including terrorism and extremism, drug trafficking, transnational organized crime and cybercrime, were also an important topic of conversation.

The heads of the two states also discussed certain international and regional topics of mutual interest.
