Meeting of the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba
Today, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of of Tajikistan Nuriddinzoda Ahliddin Nuriddin met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba, Mr. Oscar Santana Leon. During the meeting, both sides discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Cuba.
Mr. Oscar Santana Leon highlighted a range of opportunities for collaboration in sectors such as tourism, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. He emphasized Cuba's advancements in the tourism and hospitality industries, as well as in the pharmaceutical sector. The Ambassador also shared information about Cuban products, including coffee and sugar, and proposed exploring the possibility of establishing a joint venture for the production and export of sugar.
The Tajik side expressed interest in cooperation, particularly in the tourism sector, and presented Tajikistan’s tourism potential and projects aimed at developing infrastructure and promoting the country’s unique natural and cultural attractions. It was noted that under the wise policy of the Leader of the Nation, the President of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, all sectors in the country are continuing to develop actively.
During the meeting, Nuriddinzoda N.A. presented the existing opportunities in the country’s five Free Economic Zones, emphasizing that these zones provide extensive opportunities for investment and the development of trade cooperation, offering favorable conditions for foreign partners to conduct business in Tajikistan. The parties agreed to explore ways for mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation. Both parties agreed to seek common ground and mutually beneficial avenues of cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador invited the Tajik delegation to attend the Cuban fair, an important platform for showcasing Cuba's products and opportunities. The meeting took place in a spirit of mutual understanding and laid the foundation for further strengthening of bilateral relations.
