The Republic of Tajikistan hosts high-level events of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia "SPECA"
26-28 November 2024 – The Republic of Tajikistan hosts high-level events of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia "SPECA", including the Governing Council, the Economic Forum on "Green Development in the SPECA Region" and the plenary sessions of the Working Groups.
It should be noted that SPECA (United Nations Special Economic Programme for the Economies of Central Asia and Azerbaijan) was established in 1998 at the initiative of the UN, its main goal is to promote economic development and strengthen regional cooperation. Over the years, SPECA has paid special attention to such important issues as sustainable trade, digitalization, water, energy and transport.
It is worth recalling that the next SPECA Economic Forum will be held based on the proposal of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon at the SPECA meeting in 2023 in the city of Boku, Azerbaijan.
This high-level event demonstrates the key role of Tajikistan as an initiator of regional development and is of particular importance in the areas of environmental protection, green development and regional cooperation.
The Forum is attended by over 100 representatives of SPECA member states and authoritative international organizations, such as the UN, ESCAP and UNECE, to discuss key areas of regional development and cooperation.
