Tajikistan and Azerbaijan held an Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation

On December 18, 2024, the seventh meeting of the Tajik-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Dushanbe city with the participation of official delegations of the two countries headed by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Boboev Mukhtor.

As part of the Commission meeting, a bilateral meeting of co-chairs and representatives of various sectors of the economy was held.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that the friendly relations between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan, thanks to the wise policy of the heads of the two states - the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the esteemed Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the esteemed Ilham Aliyev - have constantly strengthened and reached the level of strategic partnership.

Zavqizoda Z. A. also congratulated Mukhtar Bahadur on the successful holding of COP-29 as President.

It was noted that this meeting lays an important foundation for the implementation of the points of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed on May 23, 2024, as well as for the development of trade, economic, investment and industrial cooperation.

At the meeting of the Commission, issues on the development of trade, industrial, energy, agricultural cooperation, transport, culture and education were discussed. The parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of green energy development, the creation of joint industrial enterprises, including aluminum production, oil refining and building materials, as well as expanding cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.

According to the parties, the implementation of these initiatives will contribute to increasing trade turnover, attracting investment and creating new jobs.

Following the meeting, the seventh Protocol of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan was signed.

The events were held in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and goodwill, the parties expressed their readiness to fully utilize the existing opportunities and implement joint industrial, commercial and investment projects.

The official delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan led by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources has been in Dushanbe since December 17 and during its visit got acquainted with the rich history and ancient culture of the Tajik people.
