Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade with the Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO)
On March 25, 2025, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, held a meeting with the Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Dr. Asad Majid Khan.
Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that at the direct initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, the issue of regional economic integration is at the center of the country’s foreign economic policy. Tajikistan views cooperation with international regional organizations, including ECO, as one of its priority directions.
It was highlighted that the Republic of Tajikistan, as an active and initiative-taking country within ECO, contributes significantly to key economic areas, including the development of free trade, expansion of transport corridors, energy cooperation, water resource management, tourism development, and the implementation of ecological green initiatives.
Currently, more than one-third of the country's foreign trade turnover is accounted for by ECO member states, which indicates the growth of mutually beneficial cooperation.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the development of transport transit networks, customs cooperation, a unified energy market, and socio-cultural programs within ECO, as well as prospects for further expanding cooperation.
