Participation in the wreath-laying ceremony and military parade in the Victory Park of Dushanbe

On May 8, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, participated and delivered a speech at the wreath-laying ceremony and military parade to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 in the Victory Park of Dushanbe.

 

At the venue of the event, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, was welcomed by the Chairman of the Majlisi milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, Rustam Emomali, and the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan, Lieutenant General Emomali Sobirzoda.

In order to celebrate this historic event, the venue was festively decorated, and students of the Military Lyceum of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan lined up on both sides of the red walkway.

The ceremonial event was attended by the Chairman of the Majlisi milli and the Chairman of the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, members of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, heads of power structures, law enforcement agencies, representatives of the diplomatic corps, the 201st Military Base of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Tajikistan, war and labor veterans, and humanitarian fighters.

The Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Emomali Sobirzoda, reported to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, on the readiness of the troops of the Dushanbe garrison for the military parade on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

After the playing of the National Anthem, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, addressed the audience.

First, the Head of State, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, sincerely congratulated the participants of the Great Patriotic War, labor veterans, people who worked hard in the rear during that difficult period, and all the people of Tajikistan on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory.

The Leader of the Nation spoke about the disastrous consequences of the Great Patriotic War and addressed present and future generations, saying that it was the friendship, brotherhood, solidarity, and support of the various nations of the former Soviet Union that became the main factor in the defeat of the invaders and the prevention of the spread of the "plague of fascism" in the twentieth century.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, said: - “It is a matter of pride for us that, along with other nations, the honorable men and women of Tajikistan also made an effective and worthy contribution to achieving this victory."

It was said that out of the one and a half million population of Tajikistan at that time, more than 300 thousand were mobilized to the battlefield, which constituted 50 percent of the country's able-bodied population. More than 100 thousand of them were killed in battles, more than 40 thousand were listed as missing, and another 60 thousand returned from the war with disabilities.

The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, stated that all these sacrifices embody the contribution of the Tajik nation to the great victory and ensuring world peace and security.

The Head of State emphasized that we will never forget the good name and service of those who did not return from the war and will always pay tribute to those who returned victorious to their homeland.

It was stressed that for courage and heroism in World War II, 58 thousand Tajik officers and soldiers were awarded orders and medals, and 55 of them were awarded the high title of "Hero of the Soviet Union" for their courage and bravery.

The Head of State assessed the contribution of the rear in achieving victory in the war as unique, noting that more than 45 thousand residents of Tajikistan were sent to industrial enterprises in other regions of the Soviet Union, and most of them were mobilized from there to fight. Also, during the war years, more than 100 thousand women, children and the elderly were relocated to Tajikistan from various war-torn regions, and our republic became a second home for them.

It was underlined that all human, material and technical resources of our republic were mobilized to meet the needs of the battlefield.

"Our people, while they themselves were hungry, sent food, clothing and money to the battlefield," - the Leader of the Nation stated.

The Head of State, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, called the courage, bravery, steadfastness and selflessness of Tajik officers and soldiers during World War II an exemplary role model for the military personnel of the Armed Forces of independent Tajikistan.

The President of the country emphasized that the current peaceful and calm atmosphere of the country was achieved at a very high price, and its protection is now entrusted to the military personnel as a responsible and honorable duty.

Speaking at the solemn event, the President of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, also reflected on the destructive consequences of the civil war, the historic merits and sacrifices of the loyal sons of the Motherland for the restoration of constitutional power.

In this regard, it was emphasized that protecting the Motherland and preserving the peaceful life of the people at all times is a sacred and honorable duty for every conscious and patriotic citizen and young man of honor.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, also drew the attention of the participants of the military parade to the very complex and intricate political situation in the modern world. The Leader of the Nation demanded that officers and soldiers remain vigilant and not lose political acumen, constantly improve their level of professionalism and combat readiness, and be an example of observing law and order and military discipline.

The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, recalled his proposal to declare the “Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations” at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, and considered contributing to ensuring peace, stability, and peaceful life throughout the world as one of the main goals of our state’s foreign policy.

In his speech, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, expressed confidence that the peace-loving Tajik people, grateful for the independence and freedom, patriotism and statehood, and complete stability of our country, will continue to make greater efforts to protect and honor these great blessings and for the sake of our future generations.

After the speech of the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, a wreath-laying ceremony was held to honor the memory of the officers and soldiers and those who sacrificed their lives for victory in the Great Patriotic War.

First, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Emomali Rahmon, laid a wreath at the eternal flame, honoring the good memory of the victims of the war.

Then, wreaths were laid at the eternal flame on behalf of the Majlisi milli and the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Defense and other power structures of the Republic of Tajikistan, veterans of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the diplomatic corps accredited in Dushanbe, and the 201st Military Base of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Tajikistan.

After the wreath-laying ceremony, by order of the commander of the military parade, servicemen from the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security, the National Guard, the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense, and the 201st Military Base of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Tajikistan participated in the military parade on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and completed the military parade with a ceremonial march past the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan and other officials.
