Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade with the Executive Director of the Saudi Fund for Development

  

On May 20, 2025, in Algiers, within the framework of the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB), a meeting was held between the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan led by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade/IsDB Plenipotentiary Representative from the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Executive Director of the Saudi Fund for Development Sultan Abdulrahman.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress in implementing the instructions adopted as a result of the summit meeting between the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon and the Executive Director of the Saudi Fund for Development on December 4, 2023, and also reviewed the agreements reached on the country's priority projects and discussed the implementation of existing projects in areas such as education, energy and transport.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted the important contribution of the Fund to the promotion of the national priority project of the Rogun HPP with the provision of a soft loan of $ 100 million, stating that this support will contribute to the achievement of strategic goals in the energy sector, especially in the field of energy supply.

During the meeting, the need for further expansion of cooperation in the field of transport, especially in the implementation of projects for the construction of roads, healthcare, water supply and support for small and medium-sized businesses was emphasized, and an appeal was made to attract additional funding to these sectors.

The Executive Director of the Saudi Fund for Development expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation with Tajikistan and stated the Fund's readiness to increase funding and support new priority projects. He also noted that in order to implement a new priority project, in particular the construction of the Guliston-Kulyab highway, he will visit Tajikistan on July 3-4, 2025.

It should be noted that since the beginning of cooperation to date, the Saudi Fund for Development has allocated more than $ 325 million for the implementation of 14 projects in the Republic of Tajikistan. The projects cover such areas as education, energy, transport, healthcare and others.

The official delegation of Tajikistan consists of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade/Authorized Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) from the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin (head of the delegation), First Deputy Minister of Finance, Alternate Administrator Majidi Yusuf, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Sharifzoda Firuz and Chairman of the State Unitary Enterprise PPEB "Sanoatsodirotbank" Bobozoda Khokimshoh.

Meetings of the official delegation of Tajikistan within the framework of the annual meeting of the IDB Group continue with other international financial organizations.
