Meeting with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping

On June 17, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the People's Republic of China, Honorable Xi Jinping, in Astana, Kazakhstan, within the framework of the second "Central Asia-China" Summit.

The meeting discussed the state and prospects for the development of relations between Tajikistan and China.

The President of our country, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized that "your historic state visit to Tajikistan has opened up new horizons for the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries."

It was highlighted that Tajikistan highly values the level of the comprehensive strategic partnership with China.

The President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, recalled with satisfaction his state visit to Tajikistan last year and expressed confidence that the implementation of its results would be fruitful for both sides.

The Chinese President highly appreciated Tajikistan's global initiatives in the field of water and climate and congratulated our Head of State on the successful holding of the first International Conference on Glaciers' Preservation.

Xi Jinping also emphasized that China will continue to support the comprehensive development and strengthening of Tajikistan's state independence.

Much attention was paid to the issues of expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, including in the areas of industry, energy, transport, communications, and agriculture.

Satisfaction was expressed with the development of cooperation between the regions of the two countries.

It was noted that China's share in the structure of Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover is more than 20%.

Interest was expressed in the development of our agricultural sector through the introduction of innovative technologies.

It was underlined that currently more than 700 companies with Chinese capital operate in Tajikistan in various economic and social sectors.

Given the rapid development of industry, the creation of joint industrial technology parks, as well as scientific and research "IT centers" was considered an important task.

The establishment of joint ventures with Chinese capital for the manufacturing of electric vehicles, solar panels, pharmaceuticals, and the chemical industry in Tajikistan was considered necessary.

The establishment of a Tajik-Chinese leasing company was called a promising direction of cooperation.

An exchange of views took place on the development of relations in the field of education, including the allocation of scholarships for Tajik students, the healthcare sector, and cultural and humanitarian ties.

Both sides considered the launch of direct passenger flights between Dushanbe and Beijing to be an important event.

The holding of the Chinese Culture Days in Tajikistan this year was welcomed.

The high level of cooperation between the countries within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Central Asia-China Summit was noted.

The sides stressed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in the field of ensuring security.

Following the meeting of the Heads of State of Tajikistan and China, a number of new cooperation documents were signed:

- Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on cooperation in the field of intellectual property;

- Program of trade and economic cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China for the period up to 2030;

- Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China on the establishment of a strategic dialogue mechanism at the level of foreign ministers;

- Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence between the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the State Development and Reform Committee of the People's Republic of China;

- Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Publishing House of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan "Narodnaya Gazeta" and the China Media Corporation;

- Agreement on the establishment of sister city relations between the Sughd Province of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Shaanxi Province of the People's Republic of China.
