The World Trade Organization (WTO) acknowledged the notification of the Republic of Tajikistan on commitments of “B” and “C” categories
During the last one year in order to implement the instruction of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H. E. Emomali Rahmon and with a view of increasing the economic benefit of the country, including compliance with the WTO requirements the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade in close cooperation with the WTO experts has developed and sent the notification on obligations of “B” and “C” categories, which was approved by the WTO.
Particularly, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade with support of International Trade Center held a national seminar on “Prioritization, sequencing and strategizing the implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement”, during which the “A”, “B” and “C” categories were explained to the participants and as a result categorization of the trade facilitation commitments were revised.
The Coordinating Committee on Facilitation of Trade Procedures approved the result of the seminar during its 6th meeting on 21 December 2018 taking into account the comments and suggestions of the relevant ministries and agencies (Committee Members).
Furthermore, the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mr. Zavqizoda Z. A. and during an official trip to Geneva, Switzerland discussed the issues on implementation of trade facilitation commitments and the notification of “B” and “C” categories obligations.
As a result, on 12 August 2019 the notification of “B” and “C” categories obligations was published in the official WTO websites (www.wto.org and www.tfadatabase.org).
It should be noted that the implementation of category “B” requires additional time and category “C” requires additional time and financial support of development partners.
Now, the Republic of Tajikistan is able to attract financial and technical support from the development partners in order to implement “В” and “С” categories obligations.
