The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation discussed the state and prospects of trade and economic cooperation

On February 3, 2023, a meeting was held in Dushanbe between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Gennadievich Reshetnikov, within the framework of which issues of expanding bilateral economic cooperation were considered.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that thanks to the wise and far-sighted policy of the leaders of the two countries, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Russian Federation, H.E Putin Vladimir Vladimirovich, bilateral cooperation is fruitfully developing and has reached the level of strategic, reliable and friendly partnership.

In this regard, it was noted that Russia is the largest main trading partner of the Republic of Tajikistan and for the last ten years has been ranked first in the structure of Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover.

Thus, in 2022, the foreign trade turnover between the countries amounted to $1,674 million and increased by $321 million, or 23.7 percent compared to 2021.

During the meeting, which was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, the parties discussed the issues of attracting investments from the Russian Federation, creating joint industrial enterprises, including in the territory of free economic zones of the Republic of Tajikistan, comprehensive preparations for the upcoming visit of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Investment Forum of the High level of Tajikistan and Russia to strengthen interregional cooperation, including holding the Ninth Conference on Interregional Cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia, as well as other issues of mutual interest.

In addition to this, the parties exchanged information on the implementation of the provisions of the Protocol of the 18th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan.

The parties also expressed their readiness to take measures to increase and diversify the export of Tajik products to the Russian Federation.

At the end of the meeting, the Russian delegation expressed its gratitude for the warm welcome and the creation of favorable conditions for cooperation, and also expressed its readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation and implement the noted initiatives.
