3rd meeting of the Subcommittee on Development of Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Union

On April 19, 2023, a meeting of the Subcommittee on Development of Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Union was held in Dushanbe.

The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan was headed by Solehzoda Ashurboy Abduvokhid - First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan and the delegation of the European Union Sarah Rinaldi - Head of the Department for the Middle East and Central Asia, Director General of INTRA, European Commission.

The meeting of the Subcommittee was also attended by heads of ministries, departments and representatives of relevant structures of the country, including deputy ministers of finance, energy and water resources, health and social protection of the population, agriculture, etc.

During Salehzoda's speech, A. A. noted that the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, dear Emomali Rahmon, pays special attention to strengthening cooperation with the European Union.

As part of the agenda of the meeting, the parties discussed issues of strengthening cooperation in priority areas, including within the framework of the new indicative Program for the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2027, strengthening trade and economic ties, investments, as well as in the areas of healthcare, education, energy, development rural areas, budget support, border security, human rights and the rule of law, green economy, digitalization, the creation of technology parks and digital technologies, the accession of the Republic of Tajikistan to the common system of benefits of the European Union (GSP +).

At the same time, Solehzoda A.A. presented specific proposals for greater attraction of European Union investments in the economy of the Republic of Tajikistan, an increase in funds for the country's priority projects, as well as financing of the Rogun HPP and the creation of joint industrial enterprises, especially textile enterprises, the construction of small and medium electrical power plants.

At the end of the meeting of the Subcommittee, the parties expressed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and implement the issues noted.
