Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey

On May 3, 2023, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Tajikistan, Umut Adzhar, during which issues of expanding and further developing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

First of all, Zavqizoda Z. A. congratulating the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey on his new position, noted that thanks to the wise and far-sighted policy of the leaders of the two countries, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Republic of Turkey, respected Recep Tayyip Erdogan relations between the two countries have reached a high level.

In this regard, it was noted that in 2022, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $351.2 million. Also, in January-March 2023, the volume of Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover with Turkey amounted to $98.4 million, which is $14.5 million or 17.3 percent more than in the same period last year.

In order to develop trade and economic cooperation and bilateral investment, the Minister proposed the creation of joint industrial enterprises for the production of textile products, aluminum processing, wool and leather, fruits and vegetables, food, detergents and building materials, using large existing bilateral capacities in the Republic of Tajikistan with Turkish investment. This proposal was positively accepted by the Turkish delegation.

At the same time, the parties discussed the expansion of cooperation within the framework of the Roadmap for Increasing Trade Turnover between Tajikistan and Turkey for 2022-2025 and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and implement the issues noted.
