The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan took part in the official opening ceremony of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group

On May 12, 2023, the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan, led by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) from the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, took part in the official opening ceremony of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank group on the topic “Cooperation to prevent crises” in the city of Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony of the events, Dr. Mohammed Sulaiman Al Jasser, President of the IDB Group, noted that in 2022, the bank's approved investment projects amounted to a total of $3 billion, including $1 billion in climate change financing, 1.2 billion dollars for the development of multimodal transport, 370 million dollars for the development of green and renewable energy and 85 million dollars for the development of information technology.

The bank has begun allocating $13 billion for climate change, $10 billion for food security and $4.3 billion for pandemic relief in line with its strategy.

The International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation provided a total of $7.4 billion and the Islamic Private Sector Development Corporation $525 million.

At the same time, in its adopted strategy, the IDB has identified 3 main areas as priority areas, such as sustainable development, human capital and social development, as well as innovative and communication technologies.

The annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group continue along with side events.
