Meeting of the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

On June 5, 2024, within the framework of the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum of the Russian Federation, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Solehzoda Ashurboy Abduvohid and the Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Volvach Dmitry Valeryevich, within the framework of which issues of strengthening bilateral cooperation with Russian Federation, the creation of joint industrial enterprises and the implementation of investment projects.

Solehzoda A. A., first of all, expressing gratitude for the warm and sincere meeting and the creation of favorable conditions for cooperation, noted that thanks to the far-sighted policies of the leaders of the two countries, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Russian Federation Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, bilateral cooperation has developed and reached the strategic level of a reliable and friendly partnership.

In this regard, it was emphasized that Russia is the largest main trading partner of the Republic of Tajikistan and has occupied first place in the structure of the country’s foreign trade turnover for the last ten years.

During the meeting, which took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, the parties discussed issues of attracting investments from the Russian Federation, creating joint industrial enterprises, including in the territory of free economic zones of the Republic of Tajikistan, strengthening interregional cooperation, as well as other issues of mutual interest.

In addition, the parties exchanged information on the progress of implementation of the provisions of the Protocol of the 19th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.

Also attending the meeting were the Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development Muminzod Kamoliddin and the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Investment and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan Khursheda Kodiri, who presented their proposals in various areas.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to take measures to increase and diversify the export of Tajik products to the Russian Federation, as well as to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation and implement the noted initiatives.
