On June 10, 2024, a joint meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Country Director of the Islamic Development Bank from Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Minister of Finance Qahhorzoda Faiziddin Sattor with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al-Jasser.
As part of the meeting of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, respected Emomali Rahmon, with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Dr. Muhammad Suleiman Al-Jasser, an Agreement was signed on the Rogun hydroelectric power station construction project for a total amount of $150 million, which, together with the agreed funds of Arab funds, amounts to $550 million.
It should be noted that the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al-Jasser, is on an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the Tajik side expressed satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank, and a high assessment of the Bank’s contribution to ensuring sustainable socio-economic development of Tajikistan.
As was noted at the meeting of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, during the period of independence of Tajikistan, the Islamic Development Bank Group implemented a number of important projects totaling $916 million.
In particular, the Bank is currently financing 7 investment projects in the fields of energy, transport, irrigation, education and healthcare in the amount of $237 million.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation and further implement priority investment projects.
