Negotiations and the 11th meeting of the Cooperation Committee between the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Union took place, as a result of which the European Union announced the allocation of grants and preferential loans totaling 141 million euros, including a 101 million euro grant

On July 16, 2024, the 11th meeting of the Committee on Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Union was held in Dushanbe, within the framework of which the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin met with the official delegation of the European Union led by the curator of Central Asian countries/Head Department of the European Union Commission by Luke Devin.

During the meeting and negotiations, issues of further attracting funds from grants and preferential loans from the European Union to priority sectors of the national economy, strengthening cooperation in the areas of trade and economics, industry and investment, healthcare, education, energy, rural development, budget support, border security were discussed , green economy, digitalization, creation of technology parks and digital technologies, participation in financing the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station, cooperation on regional issues, as well as promoting trade and implementing an e-commerce system in the Republic of Tajikistan.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that thanks to the wise policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, cooperation with the European Union has constantly developed and reached a higher level.

During the meeting, Zavqizoda Z. A. informed about the achievements of the Republic of Tajikistan in these areas and addressed the European Union with a request to increase funding for priority sectors of the Republic of Tajikistan, including green energy, especially the construction of hydroelectric power plants, industry, agriculture, transport and logistics, digitalization and strengthening borders.

As a result, the European Union announced that for priority sectors of the national economy of the Republic of Tajikistan it allocates a total of 141 million euros in the form of grants and preferential loans, including 101 million euros. grant.

Detailed information was also presented about the great economic, social and environmental benefits of the Roghun hydroelectric power station for the development of the Republic of Tajikistan and the region, and the European Union was also invited to allocate funds for the construction of this large facility.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and implement the identified issues.
