The next meeting of the Steering Council of the UN Special Program on the Economy of Central Asia

On July 22, 2024, a meeting of the Steering Council of the UN Special Program for the Economy of Central Asia (SPECA) was held via video conference under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Nuriddinzoda Ahliddin Nuriddin.

The meeting was attended by deputy ministers of economy and trade of the SPECA member countries, permanent missions of the participating states to the United Nations (UN) office and other international organizations in Geneva, the UN Economic Commission for Europe and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia -Pacific region.

According to the agenda, the meeting discussed the implementation of the decisions of the SPECA Declaration (dated November 24, 2023, Baku), preparation for high-level SPECA events in Dushanbe, and the creation of the SPECA Trust Fund.

Nuriddinzoda A. N. noted that strengthening relations within the framework of SPECA is one of the priorities of the foreign economic policy of the Republic of Tajikistan. Tajikistan also chairs the SPECA working group on trade, and today's meeting will discuss issues related to strengthening cooperation between SPECA member countries, the creation of the SPECA Fund and the further implementation of sustainable trade goals in the region.

Also ensure greater intergovernmental cooperation within the framework of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, helping to strengthen the common ground of SPECA member states in preparation for the next meeting of its Governing Council, scheduled for November 2024 in Dushanbe.

During the meeting, Nuriddinzoda A. N. noted that on the basis of the instructions and instructions of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon in the country in order to strengthen the institutional foundations of the digital economy, develop information and communication infrastructure throughout Tajikistan , digitalization of the national economy and expanding the process of implementing “electronic government”, simplifying trade procedures and creating an investment climate, a number of significant works are being carried out.

In particular, the concept and program for the development of the “Digital Economy” and the Strategy for the Development of the “Green” Economy in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2023-2037 have been adopted and are being implemented. At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and implement the issues noted.
