Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Tajikistan
On August 27, 2024, a meeting took place between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Tajikistan Muhammad Saeed Sarwar. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on further expanding trade and economic cooperation, developing transport and logistics infrastructure, utilizing Pakistani ports, and increasing sugar imports.
Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that thanks to the wise and far-sighted policies of the leaders of the two countries — the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, His Excellency Shahboz Sharif bilateral relations are steadily advancing.
During the meeting, which was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, the parties discussed issues of attracting investments from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the creation of joint industrial enterprises, especially in the territory of free economic zones of the Republic of Tajikistan, strengthening regional cooperation, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
Zavqizoda Z. A. also highlighted that in 2024, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan plays a significant role as the chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and Pakistan's initiatives in this regard are highly commendable.
Furthermore, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the Republic of Tajikistan, Muhammad Saeed Sarwar, extended an invitation from Pakistan's Federal Minister of Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, for Zavqizoda Z. A. to participate in the SCO Ministers' meeting on foreign economic and trade issues, scheduled for September 12, 2024, in Islamabad.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening bilateral cooperation and expressed readiness to capitalize on all available opportunities to achieve shared objectives.
