Holding the International Investment Forum "Prospects for Development of Free Economic Zones in the Republic of Tajikistan"
On November 22, 2024, in the city of Kulob, Khatlon region, the International Investment Forum “Prospects for the Development of Free Economic Zones in the Republic of Tajikistan” was held in the hall of the Kulob State University named after Abuabdullo Rudaki. Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, heads and representatives of development partners, relevant ministries and departments of the country, as well as a wide range of domestic and foreign entrepreneurs and investors, a total of more than 300 participants, took part in the forum.
The Forum has been organized and conducted by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan. The purpose of the Forum was to present investment opportunities in free economic zones, create a platform for constructive dialogue, exchange of opinions and experience among the government agencies, domestic and foreign investors, international and national sectoral experts and development partners, increase the investment attractiveness of these FEZs, attract investment and modern technologies, introduction of e-commerce and principles of the “green” economy in the activities of FEZ businesses.
As part of the forum, an exhibition of goods and products produced by economic entities of the republic’s free economic zones was held at the Kulyab State University named after Abuabdullo Rudaki.
Qosimzoda Inoyatullo, Adviser to the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan for Economic Affairs, representatives of relevant authorities and development partners delivered welcoming remarks at the forum.
Then a plenary session was held, in which the heads of free economic zone administrations, representatives of the country's development partners and successful entrepreneurs made presentations on investment opportunities in free economic zones (FEZs), digitalization of public services for businesses of FEZ, prototype online catalog of FEZ products and the introduction of startups and e-commerce in the country's FEZs.
At the forum, 11 cooperation agreements were signed between the administrations of the FEZ, domestic and foreign entrepreneurs and investors for the amount of 49.8 million dollars.
Also, within the framework of the Forum, participants got acquainted with the activities and investment opportunities of the “Kulyab” FEZ.
