Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture of the Islamic Republic of Iran

On January 15, 2025, within the framework of the official visit of the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture of the Islamic Republic of Iran Samad Hasanzoda.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that the wise policy and initiatives of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, esteemed Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, esteemed Masoud Pizishkien have created a solid foundation for the comprehensive development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the countries.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key aspects of trade and economic cooperation, as well as the implementation of joint projects, including the Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power station and the Istiklol tunnel.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that the bilateral foreign trade turnover in 2024 amounted to $ 378 million, and the volume of direct investment was only $ 0.5 million. In this regard, it was emphasized that these figures are insignificant compared to the existing potential of the two countries and require serious measures to increase mutual trade and attract more investment.

Samad Hasanzoda expressed the Iranian side's readiness to expand cooperation and proposed to create new opportunities for the socio-economic development of both countries by strengthening cooperation in the infrastructure sector and increasing investment.

The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere, the parties expressed their readiness to fully utilize the existing opportunities and implement joint industrial, commercial and investment projects.
