Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of United Kingdom (UK)

  

On February 14, 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of UK to Tajikistan Ms. Catherine Smithton.

 

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that strengthening economic cooperation with international partners and attracting foreign investment is one of the key areas of Tajikistan's state policy and is under the constant attention of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon.

It was also emphasized that UK is one of Tajikistan's reliable partners.

In this regard, Zavqizoda Z. A. called for further expansion of trade and economic cooperation, attracting UK direct investment in priority sectors of the national economy, as well as providing technical assistance in developing the Mid-Term Development Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026-2030 and the State Program for Export Development of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026-2030.

Ms. Catherine Smithton noted with particular interest the economic development of Tajikistan, expressing readiness to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and support the above-mentioned requests and proposals.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their determination to continue expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation.
