On April 22, 2025, the fourth meeting of the Tajik-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation took place in Dushanbe, with the participation of official delegations from both countries led by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, and the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan.

Before the Commission meeting, a bilateral meeting was held between the co-chairs of the Tajik-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation. Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that thanks to the wise policies of the leaders of both countries—Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan—the relations between the two countries have been continuously developing and have reached a high level.

During the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, issues related to the development of trade and economic, investment, industrial, agricultural, tourism, environmental, educational, and medical sectors were discussed. The parties agreed to work on creating joint industrial enterprises, as well as addressing issues related to energy and green development, including joint initiatives in renewable energy—such as the construction of small and medium hydropower plants and the development of solar energy with the attraction of direct investments.

It was noted that although foreign trade turnover doubled in 2024, its volume does not correspond to the existing capabilities of both countries. At the same time, it was emphasized that conducting joint business forums, participating in international exhibitions, and exchanging experiences among business delegations would open new opportunities for expanding bilateral trade turnover.

These steps will contribute to increasing the production of industrial goods, attracting investments, creating new jobs, enhancing export potential, and strengthening industrial cooperation in both countries. Zavqizoda Z. A. also urged the official delegation from Armenia to participate in the International High-Level Conference on Glacier Protection, which will be held from May 29 to 31, 2025, in Dushanbe.

In turn, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Gevorg Papoyan expressed interest from the Armenian side in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation and developing bilateral trade.

As part of this meeting, the co-chairs of the Tajik-Armenian Commission signed the Protocol of the fourth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Armenia. The events took place in a friendly atmosphere, resulting in both parties expressing their readiness to expand cooperation and implement joint industrial, trade, investment, and scientific-technical projects to fully utilize existing opportunities.
