Minister of Economic Development and Trade met with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group

  

On May 19, 2025, within the framework of the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB), which is being held in the Republic of Algeria from 19 to 22 May 2025, a meeting of the official delegation of Tajikistan led by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade/Plenipotentiary Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) from the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin was held with the President of the IDB Dr. Muhammad Suleiman Al-Jasser.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that thanks to the wise policy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Leader of the Nation, the respected Emomali Rahmon, cooperation with the IDB Group has reached a high level, and the Republic of Tajikistan considers the IDB as a reliable partner in the field of development.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the instructions received following the high-level meeting of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, with the President of the Islamic Development Bank Group on June 10, 2024, as well as agreements reached on the country's priority projects.

It should be noted that since the beginning of cooperation, the IDB Group has invested more than $916 million in the national economy of Tajikistan.

It was noted with satisfaction that the IDB supported the project to finance the construction of the Rogun HPP for a total of $550 million, of which $150 million was provided by the bank itself, and the remaining $400 million from Arab development funds, and that the process of implementing this project has already begun.

Zavqizoda Z. A. expressed gratitude to the bank for such support and asked the President of the IDB Group to increase funding for such priority sectors of the national economy as the development of green energy, in particular, the construction of the Rogun HPP, the Guliston-Farkhor-Pyanj-Dusti road, irrigation of agricultural lands, educational institutions, the creation of textile enterprises, the production of halal products, logistics centers, the development of trade and tourism, traditional and Islamic banking, strengthening the country's export potential, the private sector, preventing the effects of climate change, as well as ensuring the implementation of the Partnership Strategy between Tajikistan and the IDB for 2023-2026.

In turn, the President of the IDB Group expressed his readiness to increase funding for projects in these areas, as well as to strengthen further cooperation.

The official delegation of Tajikistan consists of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade/Authorized Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) from the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin (head of the delegation), First Deputy Minister of Finance, Alternate Administrator Majidi Yusuf, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Sharifzoda Firuz and Chairman of the State Unitary Enterprise PPEB "Sanoatsodirotbank" Bobozoda Khokimshoh.

Meetings of the official delegation of Tajikistan within the framework of the annual meeting of the IDB Group continue with other international financial organizations.
