Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade with the Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development

  

On May 20, 2025, within the framework of the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group, which is held from 19 to 22 May 2025 in Algiers, a meeting was held between the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan led by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade/Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Plenipotentiary Representative from the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress in implementing the instructions adopted as a result of the summit meeting between the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon and the Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development on December 20, 2023. The agreements reached on the country's priority projects were also reviewed, monitoring their implementation, and the implementation of existing projects in the national economy, in particular in the field of infrastructure, green energy, social sphere and climate change, were discussed.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted the significant contribution of the Fund to the implementation of priority projects of the national economy and called for a further increase in the volume of financing of various socio-economic spheres.

Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa expressed the readiness of the OPEC Fund to continue financing important projects of Tajikistan.

It should be noted that the OPEC Fund, since the beginning of cooperation and to this day, has invested about 200 million dollars in various sectors of the national economy, including road construction, energy, healthcare and education.

The official delegation of Tajikistan consists of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade/Authorized Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) from the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin (head of the delegation), First Deputy Minister of Finance, Alternate Administrator Majidi Yusuf, First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Sharifzoda Firuz and Chairman of the State Unitary Enterprise PPEB "Sanoatsodirotbank" Bobozoda Khokimshoh.

Meetings of the official delegation of Tajikistan within the framework of the annual meeting of the IDB Group continue with other international financial organizations.
