Participation of the Minister at the International Business Forum

On 14 October 2016 at the National Library of Tajikistan was held the International Business Forum "Dushanbe-2016".

As a part of this Forum, in the panel "Economic policy based on investment: the impact of Free economic zones of the Republic of Tajikistan to the development of domestic production", which was headed by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Nematullo Hikmatullozoda, participated Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Umed Davlatzod, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on investments and state property management Mrs. Nigina Anvari, the Director of the regional project "The global experience of trade and competition"  of the World Bank Group Mr. Christopher Miller, the Head of the OSCE Office in Tajikistan Tuula Yurelya, Regional Director of Oxfam Mrs. Shafkathonum Alizoda, as well as representatives of the private sector, both domestic and foreign investors functioning in the free economic zones of the country. 

The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Nematullo Hikmatullozoda delivered an opening speech presenting the main points of the National Development Strategy of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030. Also at this event, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Umed Davlatzod presented the activities and development of free economic zones of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In particular, it was mentioned that since the free economic zones began to function 67 entities have been registered, from which 16 companies have already begun to their producing activities, while the remaining companies are dealing with construction of enterprises and provision of equipment.Up to current time, the total amount of direct investments to the free economic zones reached 1 billion somoni.  Moreover, within the free economic zones were created 1900 seasonal and permanent jobs.

In addition, within the above mentioned panel the representative of the World Bank Mr. Christopher Miller expressed his point of view regarding the investment opportunities of Tajikistan.

After that the Regional Director of Oxfam Ms. Shafkathonum Alizoda presented a report on the theme "The role of women in agricultural development and food security."

At the end of the Forum, three companies were recognized as subjects of Free economic zones. They are:  Closed Joint-Stock Company "Von Daryo" in the FEZ "Panj", Joint Tajik-Turkish Company "Archa-furniture" and Limited Liability Company "Tajikpolyethylenen" in the FEZ "Sughd". In a festive atmosphere the above mentioned companies were awarded with certificates of the Free economic zones subjects of the Republic of Tajikistan.
