On March 2, 2021, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin in an atmosphere of friendship and brotherhood, met with the First Deputy Chairman of Wulusi Jirga (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the National Council of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mahmad Mirzo Mahmadrahim, within the framework of which trade cooperation between the two countries was discussed.

Zavqizoda Z.A. noted that due to the wise and far-sighted policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon and President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Muhammad Ashraf Ghani, bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Afghanistan in all areas, including trade, energy, transport, education, health and culture have reached a high level and are being maintained at this pace.

Regarding the further development of trade, economic and investment relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and Afghanistan, the sides noted that the existing trade and economic potential of the two countries is still being underutilized and there is an opportunity to increase bilateral trade.

In this regard, a number of proposals were made to expand cooperation, including the creation of pharmaceutical, textile, food and processing enterprises, as well as the creation of an international logistics terminal in free economic zone of Panj with the involvement of Afghan investors.

For its part, the Afghan side also expressed its readiness to further expand trade and economic relations with Tajikistan.
