Third Virtual Regional Seminar on the Implementation of the Road Map for the Development of the Shymkent-Tashkent-Khujand Economic Corridor

On April 20, 2021, the third virtual regional seminar on the Implementation of the roadmap for the development of the Shymkent-Tashkent-Khujand economic corridor was held via videoconference under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Abdurahmonzoda Abdurahmon Safarali.

Representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), heads of ministries and agencies of the countries participating in the economic corridor, as well as representatives of the private sector, attended the seminar and made speeches.

Abdurahmonzoda A.S. provided information on the current state of the trade and economic situation in the country, on the achievements of the Republic of Tajikistan in international trade within the framework of the instructions and assignments of the Founder of Peace and National unity - Leader of the nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and the measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to prevent the negative consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He provided information about realization of the project of ADB “Economic Corridor between the cities of Shymkent, Tashkent and Khujand as well”.

 The project has completed the implementation of technical assistance and has drawn up a road map for the development of this economic corridor, which assesses the potential for the development of an economic corridor between Shymkent, Tashkent and Khujand and the surrounding areas, as well as the proposals of the Republic of Tajikistan on “Creating a Logistics and Trade Center in Sughd Oblast».

This project is aimed at stimulating trade between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and will contribute to the development and improvement of cross-border economic cooperation, the development of border areas and trade and logistics services in the Central Asian region.
