Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade with the Minister of Industry and Technology of Turkey

On October 13, 2021, within the framework of the meeting of Tajik-Turkish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, which took place on October 11-13 in Dushanbe, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin met with the Minister of Industry and Technology of Turkey Mustafa Varank in an atmosphere of friendship and brotherhood, during which issues of expansion and further development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

Zavqizoda Z. A. first of all welcomed the Minister of Industry and Technology of Turkey and noted that the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkey is a priority for the Republic of Tajikistan and thanks to the wise and far-sighted policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan relations between the two countries have reached a qualitatively new level.

It is gratifying that for 8 months of 2021, bilateral trade between our countries increased by 15.3%, 58 percent of the total volume is accounted for by Tajikistan's exports.

In order to further develop trade and economic cooperation, Zavqizoda Z. A.  proposed to create joint ventures for the production of textiles, electrics, shoes, leather and laundry products in the free economic zones of Tajikistan, which were welcomed favorably by Turkish side.

At the same time, ware discussed the creation of a working group to prepare a roadmap to increase the volume of trade turnover between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Turkey to $1 billion, the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the free economic zones of the two countries, increasing the number of direct flights between the states, as well as topical issues of further trade, economic and investment cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed their readiness to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation and implement the above-mentioned issues.
