Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran

On February 9, 2022, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran Muhammadtaki Sabiri in an atmosphere of friendship and brotherhood.

Zavqizoda Z.A. noted that thanks to the wise and far-sighted policy of the leaders of the two states, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Said Ibrahim Raisi, relations between the two countries have reached a qualitatively new level.

It was noted that as a result of the implementation of the instructions of the heads of the two states, the bilateral trade turnover between Tajikistan and Iran in 2021 reached 121 million US dollars, or 2 times more than in 2020.

The sides agreed to make full use of the available opportunities in connection with the development of a roadmap to increase bilateral trade turnover to $ 500 million and the creation of joint enterprises in the free economic zones of the Republic of Tajikistan.

In his turn, Sabiri called on the Minister of Economic Development and Trade to visit free economic zones, including “Chabahor” and industrial cities in the provinces of Qazvin, Mashhad and Khorasan, to study Iran's experience in this area.

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed their readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and implement the identified issues.
