The Minister of Economic Development and Trade held a meeting with the Director of the Department of External Relations of the European Union for Russia, Eastern Partners, Central Asian countries and the OSCE

On February 23, 2023, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin held a meeting with the official delegation of the European Union led by the Director of the European Union Department of External Relations for Russia, Eastern Partners, Central Asia and the OSCE, Mr. Luc Devin.

The founder of peace and national unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, gives priority to strengthening cooperation with the European Union.

As a result, the volume of mutual foreign trade with the European Union in 2022 amounted to 490.2 million US dollars, which increased by 53.7 million US dollars or 12.3 percent compared to 2021. But taking into account the wide resources and capabilities of the parties, the volume of this indicator can be even higher.

Therefore, during the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to accelerating the process of accession of the Republic of Tajikistan to the common trading system of the European Union (GSP +), attracting funds to the national economy, the implementation of the Indicative Program of the European Union in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2027.

It was emphasized that within the framework of the indicative program of the European Union in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021-2027, priority should be given to the areas of green and digital economy, artificial intelligence and e-commerce.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
