The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan took part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

On June 16, 2023, the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the General Director of Avesto Group LLC Mirzo Muhammad Faizullozoda took part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

This forum is considered an annual business event in Russia in the field of economics and has been held in St. Petersburg since 2005 with the participation of the President of the Russian Federation. The participants of this forum are the heads of large Russian and foreign companies, heads of state, prime ministers, deputy prime ministers and ministers, during which hundreds of investment agreements are signed annually.

Within the framework of this forum, a meeting was held between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Zavqizod Zavqi Amin and the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Gennadievich Reshetnikov, at which the implementation of the protocols of the intergovernmental commission, the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, the creation of joint industrial enterprises and the implementation of investment projects were discussed.

Zavqizoda Z. A. noted that thanks to the wise policy of the Heads of the two countries, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Russian Federation, respected Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, bilateral cooperation is successfully developing and has reached the level of reliable and friendly strategic partnership.

In this regard, it was emphasized that Russia is the largest trading partner of the Republic of Tajikistan, ranking first in the structure of Tajikistan's foreign trade turnover over the past ten years.

As a result, in 2022, the foreign trade turnover between the countries amounted to $1,674 million, which is $321 million or 23.7 percent more than in 2021. This trend continued during 5 months of 2023 and the bilateral trade turnover increased by 16 percent.

At the meeting, the parties agreed that they would make more efforts to implement the investment agreements signed within the framework of the Investment Forum of Tajikistan and Russia.

The parties expressed their readiness for the upcoming visit of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, esteemed Marat Shakirzyanovich Khusnullin, to the Republic of Tajikistan, which is scheduled for June 18-20 this year.

In addition, as part of this event, meetings were held with the heads of industrial enterprises of the Russian Federation in order to attract investments from the Russian Federation.
