On February 19, 2025, a roundtable was held at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade under the leadership of First Deputy Minister Solehzoda Ashurboy Abduvohid. The meeting included the participation of the Permanent Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Imaï Seizu, representatives from various ministries and agencies, as well as development partners within the framework of the "One Village – One Product" (OVOP) movement project in Tajikistan.
Solehzoda A. A. opened the meeting by highlighting the cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), particularly regarding the mentioned project. He emphasized that the OVOP movement has achieved success in various countries and has now entered Central Asia, where it is in the development stage. The OVOP movement in Tajikistan has the potential to become a tool for job creation, entrepreneurship development, and handicrafts, especially in remote rural areas.
During the meeting, it was noted that the OVOP movement in Tajikistan is being implemented at the initiative of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and JICA, aimed at creating a sustainable and effective network for developing innovative products and turning them into international brands. To introduce new products to national and international markets, the project began its activities in the Khatlon region, and an OVOP center was established in the city of Bokhtar.
Based on research, more than 100 new innovative products have been identified in the regions of the area, and currently, 12 types of products are being produced and presented. In March 2025, these produced goods will be showcased at the international EXPO 2025 exhibition in Tokyo, Japan, and will find their buyers.
In the future, the implementation of the project will be expanded to all regions of the country, and a special OVOP store is planned to open in Dushanbe in 2025.
In conclusion, there was a call to expand cooperation among government agencies, local producers, the private sector, and development partners, each of which plays a crucial role in the development of the project and is significant for its success.
